About Me

I studied drama and history of art at Manchester University, followed by a postgraduate course at Croydon College of Art. I worked backstage in West End theatres and also as a prop maker for theatre, film, and television.  I subsequently moved to Norfolk which had played a huge part in my childhood where I have been able to paint full time.

I work in acrylic on canvas. The starting point of my work is landscape, seen, remembered, or imagined, and recreated in varying combinations of these elements. In my painting it is landscape that defines the human spirit. Consequently the dynamics of colour combinations and their potential to convey mood and emotion are an important feature of my work, as is surface pattern and texture. I enjoy the actual experience of placing and shaping paint on canvas, and I hope anyone who looks at my work will share that enjoyment, and celebrate the world we live in.

My work has been seen widely across Norfolk and Suffolk, including the Garden House Gallery, Cromer, the Handa Gallery, Well-Next-the-Sea and the Apex in Bury St Edmunds.  I have opened my studio as part of Norfolk Open Studios scheme.  I am a member of the Breckland Artists group, and have exhibited at The Forum and the Undercroft in Norwich and the Wymondham Arts Centre as part of the group.  I am also a member of the West Norfolk Artists Association and have exhibited at St Nicholas’ Chapel, Kings Lynn and the King's Lynn Arts Centre.
